The title of this piece "Gekkou" means lunar rainbow (moonbow) in Japanese language.
When I was small, I loved looking at the moon before I go to sleep.
The moon doesn't generate its own power to shine all by itself. It just reflects the light of the Sun.
When I was working on this piece, I was full of joy because an art collector in the US loved my art and bought many works from me, from a small artist who has just started her art career. At that time, I was not sure if my art would be appreciated by someone in the world. So, that made me so happy and more confident just like the moon reflects the light of the Sun.
The expression of this girl shows the mixed feelings of anxiety, happiness, confidence and strong passion I was having at that time. So this piece is still so special to me.
